WPS has created a centralized monitoring system, wpsWatch, which utilizes remotely deployed field cameras to transmit images of wildlife and potential human threats. These cameras are typically deployed outside the range of established communication networks. The system integrates multiple feeds from the field into a single display, allowing for a holistic view of activity in a given area. This technology can be deployed across a variety of communication networks, such as cellular, repeater, and mesh networks.
The wpsWatch monitoring system can be viewed from a centralized computer system or on a mobile device to provide flexibility while patrolling an area.
Threat Assessment Software
Images and video feeds from deployed field assets are filtered through threat assessment software and live alerts are activated on wpsWatch PC stations and mobile monitoring devices. Threat assessment software filters through thousands of images to look for animal-specific image patterns, human or otherwise. This eliminates many false positives, i.e., photos without animals. When these patterns are detected, threat assessment software sends live alerts to wpsWatch, allowing real time response to active threats.
Centralized Computer System
Some ranches and parks have adequate personnel to observe the output from the cameras on a continuous basis. For this type of installation, a full-screen monitor may be optimal to oversee and dispatch personnel resources. The interface below shows an example of this system.
Mobile App for wpsWatch
WPS has created an anti-poaching app
that receives real-time images from integrated field camera systems and displays them on a variety of mobile devices. The mobile interface provides alerts about potential poachers and allows nature reserve personnel to monitor wildlife. The app is used at a number of game reserves in South Africa where wpsWatch is installed.

Four Winds Interactive
The information we received from the wpsWatch System was invaluable and certainly saved rhino lives. When I left this morning, there were three rhino on the plains in the reserve. They could have been dead if we weren’t able to act expeditiously the past few days.
